 Sandy Pines Resort is open year round so that you can have an opportunity to enjoy the changing of the seasons.  Come and enjoy your vacation at Sandy Pines Resort, which is located on Big Portage Lake in Backus, Minnesota.  We have 10 acres and 500 feet of sandy lakeshore.  Enjoy the peace  and tranquility of nature from the Deep Portage Reserve which surrounds us on the northern shores.  Big Portage Lake has open channels to Rice Portage, & Deep Portage Lakes. 

Wake up to a beautiful sunrise and misty view of the lake as you  watch a Bald Eagle soar over the Lake looking for breakfast or a Swan swim by the docks.

Sit by your camp fire and watch some of the spectacular sunsets as the day winds down.

 For you fisher-people, there are plenty of  Walleye, Northern, Bass, Crappies, and Sunnies, so do some fishing and go home with a story. 

 Swim or build castles on a Sandy beach with no drop offs, which is great for kids of all ages.  Play on the Fun Bugs or Paddle Boat.
